Meet Maxime, the sailing instructor, captain, and co-owner of Beyond Sailing! Maxime is a dedicated sailor with extensive experience sailing in British Columbia’s coastal waters. His passion for sailing is matched only by his passion for teaching, and he takes great pride in ensuring that his crew members are happy and well-cared for.
Maxime’s love of sailing and his commitment to his crew members led him to the decision to open his own business, Beyond Sailing. Through Beyond Sailing, Maxime is able to share his expertise and passion with others, and help them experience the joy of sailing for themselves.
Originally from Chicoutimi, Qc, Maxime moved to British Columbia in 2017 to pursue his love for the outdoors and rapidly fell in love with sailing. Whether you’re seasoned sailor or a complete beginner , Maxime and the team at Beyond Sailing are here to ensure that you have an unforgettable experience on the water.

Stephanie Racine
Stephanie is a Registered Massage Therapist at Healing Hands Therapy, located in Campbell River. She is also the co-owner of Beyond Sailing, where she oversees logistics, bookkeeping, marketing, and other aspects of the business. Her exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail have been instrumental in the company’s success. Stephanie moved to British Columbia from Victoriaville, Quebec in 2018.
She is passionate about running, outdoor activities, and the slow-paced lifestyle that living on the water offers. Stephanie aims to share all that sailing has to offer with guests. Her goal is to provide a unique life experience that allows clients to disconnect from the modern world and be present in the moment. This includes fully reconnecting with the environment, experiencing magnificent landscapes, dreamy anchorages, enjoying stunning sunsets and sunrises, and observing the diverse wildlife of Desolation Sound and beyond. Once you reach the trails, you can count on her to be ready for a run or hike. She will ensure that your sailing experience is unforgettable and that you have the opportunity to discover all that the area has to offer.

Mao
Allow us to introduce you to Mao, our amazing sailing dog! Mao is a 7 year-old Labrador-Samoyed mix who loves sailing because it provides him with the perfect opportunity to sleep all day while also getting to explore new islands in Beautiful British Columbia.
Mao is the perfect companion for any sailing adventure, and he brings joy and excitement to every trip. He loves to soak up the sun on deck, feel the wind in his fur , and take in the stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Not only is he a loyal and loving friend, but he also serves as a reminder to enjoy the simple things in life, to cuddle often, and take time to appreciate the beauty of the world around us.
So, if you’re looking for a fun and furry addition to your sailing crew, look no further than Mao! He is sure to bring a smile to your face and make your sailing experience even more memorable.

Our Vessel Harmony
A Catalina 34 1988, Harmony is a successful, all-around design of 34 feet making it an ideal boat to learn on. The boat has two separate enclosed sleeping berths with a functional galley (kitchen) and dining area. The boat can comfortably welcome 4 to 6 adults at the same time.
